Dirk Nowitzki deserved the MVP Award for the way he played in the regular season for the Dallas Mavericks

Don’t forget how good Dirk Nowitzki played during the regular season. He might not have showed up against the Warriors in the playoffs but he was outstanding all season for the Mavericks. In 78 games, Nowitzki averaged 36.2 minutes, 24.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He was had an excellent shooting season from everywhere on the basketball court. He nailed 50.2% of his shots from the floor, 41.6% from 3-point range and 90.4% from the free throw line. He deserved the MVP Award that he got.

Nowitzki’s career numbers keep improving as he continues to even get better as the years go on. In 681 career games, he has averaged 36.5 minutes, 22.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.0 steal and 1 block per game. Nowitzki’s shooting %’s keep going up too. Nowitzki has nailed 47% from the floor, 38.1% from 3-point range and 86.9% from the free throw line. Look for his numbers to continue to improve because he’s the best player on the Mavericks without a doubt.

Jerry Stackhouse excelling off of the bench for the Dallas Mavericks

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 10 April 2007 at 12:03 pm

The last two weeks, Jerry Stackhouse has really stepped up for the Mavericks. He has played in 7 games over that stretch of time and he averaged 17.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. The Mavericks will need Stackhouse to continue with his excellent play off of the bench if they want to win the World Championship this season.

Jason Terry & Dirk Nowitzki keep the Mavericks rolling

Blogged under Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Sunday 11 March 2007 at 10:29 pm

Over the last five games Jason Terry and Dirk Nowitzki have both been outstanding. Nowitzki is averaging 24.0 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game over the last five. It seems as if Nowitzki could be scoring over 30 points per game if he wanted to, but, the team is better when he keeps all of his teammates involved. Jason Terry also has been really filling it up. He’s averaging 22.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game over his last five. Terry has really been great since the Mavs moved him back to the point guard position.

Josh Howard having a great season for the Mavericks

Josh Howard is having a fantastic season. He’s averaging 19.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game so far this season. He’s taken pressure off of Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry as he’s been a very reliable scorer, rebounder and shooter for the Mavs. He also gives a real solid effort on the defensive side of the court as he has the second most combined steals & blocks (82) on the team this season. He’s hit the second most three pointers on the Mavericks (he has more than Nowitzki) and he’s the third leading rebounder on the team. Howard is a big reason why the Mavericks have the best record in the Western Conference as of right now.

Jason Terry steppin’ up his game

Blogged under Steppin Up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 2:27 pm

Jason Terry has played pretty well lately for the Mavericks. He’s been shooting great from 3-point range as he’s hit 16 of his last 34 shots beyond the arc in his last 7 games. He’s also averaged 16.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game in his last 7 games. If he keeps that up the Mavericks are going to keep thumping teams because Terry is a legit threat out of the backcourt and the #3 option in the offense behind Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard.
