The Mavericks have acquired forward Reyshawn Terry from the Orlando Magic for center Milovan Rakovic. Terry could be a better basketball player than he was at North Carolina so the Mavericks are hoping they can bring out the best in him. Terry has nice size at 6′8″, 232 pounds but he needs to get tougher. Terry played in 126 games at North Carolina and he averaged 7.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 assists per game. He is a good shooter though as he hit 48.5% from the floor, 41.9% from three point range and 75% from the free throw line.

The Mavericks draft Nick Fazekas in the 2nd round

Blogged under The Draft Report, Bloglockers, Big Mavericks News, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 30 June 2007 at 8:11 am

Nick Fazekas was an outstanding basketball player at Nevada and his skill set is very similar to that of Dirk Nowitzki except he isn’t as tough as him yet. Fazekas is a big guy at 6′11″, 235 pounds and he looked like a man playing against boys at Nevada. In 131 games at Nevada, Fazekas averaged 18.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game. Fazekas is an outstanding shooter from anywhere on the basketball court. He hit 53.2% of his shots from the floor, 34.1% from three point range and 81.5% from the free throw line. He will start his career as a backup but he could develop into a starter quickly.

The Dallas Mavericks could have a different look in 2007

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 27 June 2007 at 10:53 pm

Rumors are going around that the Mavericks might be trading Devin Harris for the #6 pick in the NBA Draft. Rumors have also been going around that Jason Terry might be traded before the season starts too. Jerry Stackhouse and Austin Croshere are going to be free agents next week and the Mavericks aren’t likely to try too hard to retain them. Devean George and DaSagana Diop both have player options in their contracts and they might test free agency and in that situation the Mavericks would likely let both of them walk. The Mavericks will likely be looking for guards and centers later in tonight’s NBA Draft. They currently hold the #34, #50 and #60 picks in the draft.
